Encoders are used in all types of motion sensing applications, including machine tooling, semiconductor positioning and multi-axis positioning. All Koyo encoders feature a reinforced aluminum die cast casing and come equipped with a two-meter cable or MS connector.
Use the incremental encoders with our PLC high-speed counter modules for accurate position monitoring and control. Absolute encoders are wired to standard PLC DC input cards and do not require a high-speed input module. Mounting brackets and flexible couplings in aluminum and glass reinforced resin are also available.

- Industrial and harsh duty applications
- Standard, extended, triple and quadruple sensing distances
Factor 1 Sensors, with a correction factor K=1, provide a constant sensing range without adjustment on all ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Weld Slag Resistant harsh duty sensors have a PTFE material coating that prevents weld slag build-up and allows weld spatter to be wiped off easily.

Magnetic proximity sensors are used for non-contact object detection beyond the normal limits of inductive sensors. Used with a separate damping magnet, they offer very long sensing ranges in a small package and can detect magnets through walls of non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, aluminum, plastic or wood.

AutomationDirect offers a variety of capacitive sensors that allow sensing of metal and non-metal objects, even through non-metal containers. Sensing distances range from 2-15mm flush and 2-40mm non-flush. NPN and PNP logic outputs and normally open or normally closed output models are available. All capacitive proximity sensors have LED status indicators to verify operation at the switch; and all capacitive proximity sensors are IP65 or IP67 rated. ZIPport multi-port junction blocks provide a simple and effective way to organize sensor wiring. Field wireable connectors and T-couplers can be used to make custom patch cable lengths from existing cables/bulk wire or turn a prewired sensor into a quick disconnect.

Contrast Sensors from Wenglor® and Datalogic®
Contrast sensors are photoelectric sensors that determine contrast by sensing reflected colored light (red, green or blue) to detect the difference in the wavelength of the reflected light between mark and background.
Industrial applications include packaging lines, beverage and bottling lines, paper and printing machinery, and ceramics printing. S8 series sensors with stainless steel housing provide IP69K washdown protection for use in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

SU, UK, UT and TU series round body and UQ series cubic plastic ultrasonic distance sensors emit a sound impulse and measure the elapsed time of the returned echo signal reflected from a detected object. The ultrasonic beam is well reflected by almost all materials (metal, wood, plastic, glass, liquid, etc.) and is not affected by colored, transparent, or shiny objects.
UHZ series thru-beam ultrasonic sensors use sound wave technology and are specifically designed for applications with limited mounting space. Thru-beam pair sensors are often the most accurate and reliable sensor configurations.

LVITs are contactless devices with no friction issues or moving parts that can wear out. LVITs exhibit outstanding repeatability, with resolution limited only by the electronics used with them. All of these transducers have a single output of 0-10V or 4-20mA (depending on model).
The Alliance LVIT proprietary SenSet™ process provides the ability to match the end points of the sensor's analog output with the ends of the range of motion of a workpiece or the ram of a hydraulic cylinder to which the sensor is attached. The SenSet™ feature permits the user to optimize the position measuring system resolution over the full range of motion.
